Mission Statement and Values

What is our Mission Statement?

‘To significantly increase the amount of locally and sustainably produced food that is consumed in Cambridge using processes and facilities that are as environmentally sustainable as possible and with an ethical business model that aims to provide value to its customers, suppliers, employees, owners, the local community and the environment in equal measure.’

What are our values?

Our values inform all aspects of the way that we operate.

Fair

We aim to operate in a way that brings benefit to everyone involved in the Food Hub, including our producers, our buyers and our employees. It is important to us that we make the system work for small food businesses, both producers and buyers.

Progressive

We believe that reform of current food systems is necessary in order to bring improvement to society and the environment. We believe change is an important process and that business can be done differently to conventional models.

Sustainable

We aim to operate in a way that is environmentally, socially and economically sustainable. This means acting in a way that brings environmental benefit and reduces environmental damage; brings social benefit and reduces social ills; and does so in a way that is economically viable.
