The Future

The Food Hub aims to help answer the pressing question of how we are to sustainably feed a growing global population.

The global food system is close to breaking point. Intensive agriculture is not only reliant on resources that are in finite supply, but it is destroying natural ecosystems and soil and driving climate change. Around 50% of habitable land has already been converted into farming land. Despite all this, it is still failing to adequately nourish much of the world’s population.

We want the Food Hub to be an ongoing test-bed for innovating new solutions for sustainable food distribution. We aim to work with researchers specialising in sustainable food systems to see what lessons can be learnt from a local food system such as the Food Hub that could be applied to our wider food system.
