The Cambridge Food Hub is looking for its first employee, could it be you?
The Food Hub is an innovative new method of local food supply chain coordination, based on the concept of the ‘local food ecosystem’ intended to reduce the environmental impact of food and improve connectivity between local food businesses. We’re looking for someone who will be the backbone of the operations.
This job will involve a lot of driving: a full and clean UK driving license is required, and experience of driving light goods vehicles is desirable. The holder of this position will be regularly driving to local farms to collect produce, and delivering produce to local food businesses. We’re looking for someone who is able to engage with the members of the ecosystem and identify ways in which the distribution of food between the members can happen as efficiently as possible.
To begin with, the job will largely focus on the ‘Green Coffee Shop Scheme’: a locally produced oat milk is delivered to local coffee shops, and at the same time their used coffee grounds are collected and taken to a recycling plant. The Food Ecosystem Coordinator will deliver the oat milk, collect and deliver the grounds, and clean out the caddies, but also approach new coffee shops who would be suitable for the scheme, and try to place other Food Hub products with the participants of the scheme.
This position would suit someone who has an interest in environmental sustainability.
The Food Hub is an exciting new food initiative, and the successful applicant will join us on our journey to creating a ground-breaking local food system in Cambridge. Although the project is new, it is being conducted by a well-established organic food business, the Cambridge Organic Food Co., and so the position has secure long-term prospects. The role is initially offered for three days per week but will increase as the project grows.
We are living wage accredited – the hourly rate for this position is £9/hour.
To apply, send a CV and covering letter to info@cambridgefoodhub.org.
Deadline to apply: 21/06/2019
